  • Remote control momentary "switch" on EBAY

    Hey all,

Just started planning my install for this spring (finally), and was looking for some cool switches. I found a seller on e-bay (not me) who had nice illuminated 16mm SS pushbuttons, here is the link to those switches http://cgi.ebay.com/1pcs-Stainless-i...item5191d452e1.

However, this seller also has a variety of RF momentary and on/off controllers too. One of them looks like a key fob remote, comes in 1-8 channel configurations and also ON/OFF as well as MOM. Basically just needs 12v +/- in to work receiver and relays.

I bought the 2 channel MOM http://cgi.ebay.com/2CH-Momentary-RF...item2eabf962e0, but there is a one channel MOM here http://cgi.ebay.com/1CH-Momentary-RF...item2eafa88673. Then I jumped the PC "power on" pins to COMM and NO on the receiver board. Works like a charm!!! Started the bench PC from 30 ft away and outside.

For kicks, it will allow me to start the PC from inside and have it running when I get in. My last Caddy PC install survived crank, I think this one will too. But, it also means no visible buttons, just a handy remote to keep in the car. I bet it could have plenty of PC or non-PC uses too.

Anyway, thought it was cool, wanted to share.

    Stay tuned!

if you install a car alarm/remote start system then you should have available channels and outputs to customize. its nice this way because you dont have an extra keyfob to keep around, and its all encrypted so there wont be any accidental startups of your pc or lights or whatever.

i am too looking for good pushbutton switches. what i really want is those LCD switches... theyre just basically 1" color LCD screens... you can put whatever picture or even animated picture on there that you want. theyre only sold commercially so far that ive seen, but i would love to make a control panel based on those.

thanks. the price is about what i thought too ($45 per switch!). i wonder if you could put like 5 of those in a row and create like a LCD scrolling display that shows song info and such. then when you want, you can hit a "shift" button that changes all the buttons to individual mode, where they can be play, rew, ff, stop and mute. or whatever you want of course.
