  • New Carputer Project - Hardware Checklist - Comments/Suggestions Welcome

    Hey All,

I am beginning a new Carputer project for my 2001 Toyota Celica GTS and I have just started to order hardware. I was going to purchase a double din Navigation head unit, but I decided I wanted to be able to do more in this car so I am going for the full blown Carputer. I am looking to do all the normal stuff like GPS/Radio/Movies/OBD2. It has been about 8 years or so since I built my last Carputer so I was hoping you guys could check over my list and see if I am forgetting anything and/or post any comments or suggestions you have. I wish my list was this small...
But the only thing I would add is maybe Bluetooth for your phone? And do you really need 4GB of RAM and a Quad-Core for what you plan to do in your car?

Definitally looking to use it for that. One of the advantages of this motherboard was on-board Bluetooth

I was thinking the same thing, and I came up with the answer.. "No, not really" Then I saw it was only about $100 or so more for a much faster setup when compared to something like a decent Intel Adom or Amd E350 I see many people using and this setup seemed to be capable of a lot more beyond being faster to boot for not too much more cost. So I thought it was worth the investment.
