the first one is nice.. but i do not have an expendable budget and the second may not work as the little cover may not close... I might have to push the OBD port back or something...

my gut reaction to the thread title is "give it to me."

but i guess if the first option doesn't sound so good, you could also try to unbolt the obd port and tie it up elsewhere below the dash..

u can "push" the odb connection backwards so it disconnects from its housing.

+1 agreed, this way it makes it easy to restore back to factory and allows you to use that section for a more useful interface.
otherwise you can also make a small extension but unscrewing the plug is quicker

Just so you know, they check your OBD port for tampering when you go in for an inspection. When I went in for mine, I told the guy I have an onboard computer that connects to OBD. He told me to leave, disconnect it, come back and not mention it to him As long as you can restore it to its original condition, you can push the port in and hide the ElmScan unit that way, but I'd triple check that it's reversible.

                Thanks trinybwoy

I would believe the only time that port would be used is once a year for inspection. I think on my car ..the plug clips on. As long as I don't break the clips I should be ok
