  • Does the EPIA5000 support regular drives & sound cards?

By "regular" I mean going to BestBuy and getting an off the shelf hard drive and CD ROM drive that would work in any other PC.

OR does the EPIA5000 only support certain devices?

C'mon tejesh83. If you're gonna post, might as well provide some information.

-al-, I searched google for "Epia 5000" and came up with this link. Next to "Onboard IDE" it says it supports ATA 100/66, which includes almost any hard drive or CD-ROM that you can buy. The exception is 2.5" hard drives and slim CD-ROMs, which require a simple adapter.

I have an EPIA 5000.. and I have it connected to an old WD 20 gig... ATA/66.. and I've connected it also to a newer Maxtor 40 gig.. ata/100.. both worked fine. i've also connected it with a 36x cd-rom and a 8x DVD-ROM.. again, both worked fine...

the 5000 has an onboard sound processor... which works, and also a PCI slot that I've put an SB 128 into... and it worked...

so I think it accepts pretty much anything standard.

            I've got a Epia 5000

So far I hooked up a 50x and 32x CDrom to it, worked fine. A 40gig WD HDD [Didn't like] and a 40gig Seagate Barra 4 which is loving it right now.

I'm putting it in the car this weekend. It should be all ready soon
