  • Long boot and shutdown fail

    Hello,
I have build a carplayer with a VIA Epia M10000N. It has 256 Mb of RAM and a 120 Gb harddisk.
When I turn my computer on with the power button my Xenarc touchscreen doesn't receive a VGA signal thus poweres off. The HDD LED stays off also. After about 3-4 minutes the HDD LED starts to blink and the computer begins to boot. Then within the normal 30-60 seconds I have my complete Windows screen and can use it as normal. Once booted there isn't a sign it has a problem.
After is shut it down the Power and HDD LED go off but the screen receives a black VGA signal and the mobo and HDD stays running. Only after pressing the power button a few seconds it turns of the power completely.

I powered it trough a inverter (soon sold in my own webshop http://www.carplayer.nl) which has an input of 9 - 18V DC and has an output of 12.5V DC exactly. Even when the car starts, you turn the car off or you use some other powerconsumers the computer stays on.
But that's not actually the question.

I hope someone can help me since I have no clue anymore. Tnx!
    Jan Hoff ( www.carplayer.nl )

        Problem solved

I figured out the problem. It was due to the DVD drive which I connected to a slim-line 2 IDE converter which was connected to an USB 2.0 interface. I connected the USB 2.0 interface to a USB 1.0 Hub. Therefore the bios hangs before testing the memory. This causes the 4 minute delay.
        Thanx anyway!
