  • Securing the box

Well I am on my way to putting a DashPC in my 2000 Subaru Impreza (I see no one here owns one ). I bought an old 7.62mm ammo box for the case (its dimensions are almost perfect) and I will be mounting the case under the passenger seat. I was wondering what the best way for me to secure it to the car would be. The area under the seat is 15"lX10"wX3.5h and the ammo case is a tad bit smaller than this so it will be rolling around a bit. Would a few pieces of velcro do the job? I am only putting the motherboard, hard drive, an 80mm fan, a wireless PCI card, and my mini-itx power supply in the case so its not going to be too heavy. Any other suggestions?

yes velcro. I just have 4 pieces in each corner holding it down. Its just strong enough to hold your case down.
    Mine needs to be updated.

The velcro should work - just get the industrial strength stuff. Isn't that ammo case made out of steel - must be pretty heavy. You could also try pipe strapping bolted to the seat rails and looped around the case. It comes as either metal or thick plastic.

Oh BTW, why do you call it a DashPC if you're putting it under the seat?

And I forgot to mention - I also have an Impreza. It's a 2004 WRX STi.

Well I call it a Dash pc #1 because www.dashpc.com was the first website that I went to about this type of project and the LCD screen will be going in my dash.
