  • Which VIA for me?

Well.. I'm starting my truckputer project, I already have my I/O figured out (Lilliput), my power source (OPUS), my desires (Slot DVD, WebCam, 802.11, Cellphone, GPS, music, TV, and other dodads), case is variable something small however, and my mounting locations. I'm an old Win98 user and am satisfied with it as well, so I will be using it as the OS of choice. The last question is this: Which mini-ITX motherboard should I purchase? I currently have a P3-500/128 at home that I'm very happy with. It suits my needs very effectively. I would like to have something of similar power in the truck. I would want the BIOS to be able to handle a flashdrive if possible. However it really isn't a must have.
I've used the search engine and I have seen many references to a variety of computer bases, however I've been out of the computer geek circuit for quite a while and have lost touch with performance standards and comparisions. Will you shed some light on this myrid of selections?
    Thanks
    Wade

I vote the M10000!! Its nice, slow as a P3 666MHz IMO, but it works GREAT for everything I want in my car, DVD/DIVX/MP3/GPS..

I went with the M9000 just cuz it was cheap on sale. Only $80 USD. DVD playback... works but leaves a little to be desired (may be drive) divx and mp3 are fine. This is all using the onboard video. For some reason it crashes playing back MPEG 2 (not dvds though). So no mpeg 2 for me.

Get the fastest you can afford. If you MUST go with an EPIA I would say the M10000...

Well.. Price is a function of my building setup, however I've dropped a bunch of $$ on my new ride and want to equip it the right way.. I'm planning on at least $1000 for my mobile rig.
What are my alternatives to EPIA? Space is somewhat of a premium however I've got enough space to install where even a low profile ATX case wouldn't be much of an issue. Smallest possible is always the best however I'm open to alternatives.

Is there a comparision chart somewhere of EPIA to ATX power/speed comparison? IE: p3-500 = EPIA M8000
What are the differences between the CL, M, and other EPIA Mobos?
            Thanks folks!
