  • where to buy inline FM modulators?

Anyone know where I can purchase an inline FM modulator? I'm looking for the unit that comes with most add-on CD changers where the modulator plugs directly into the FM antenna input on the head unit.

    thanks.

    Try http://www.partsexpress.com or www.partsexpress.com/sites/PartsEx/CyberVendor.dll/subcategory
You'll find it under AUTOMOTIVE MOBILE VIDEO.
    Item no.205-215 for $49.95

[QUOTE]This FM modulator makes it easy to add "Home Theater" sound to your mobile video system. It modulates line level audio (stereo) from a VCR, DVD, automotive TV tuner or any audio source, to an FM frequency so you can receive the signal on your factory radio sound system.[QUOTE]

Tried crutchfield, but they don't sell the FM modulator on its own - you can only get it as part of a CD changer add-on kit.

The fm modulator sold at Parts Express has an RCA outputs(right & left channel), an input and output connector for the antenna, a pigtail for a +12volt and ground connection.
            There are 2 switchable frequencies: fm1=88.7mhz, fm2=89.1mhz.

I hope you meant to say it has left/right RCA *inputs*, right? After all, the modulator should be receiving an audio stream from an exterior source, like a MP3 box.

Stand alone rf modulators with rca input were what came with most changers in the mid to late 80's but were very scarce until in car video became popular. Any local car audio shop or accessory shop dealing with Audiovox mobile video will stock the modulator and should sell it for at least half of the parts express price. The reason it is used in mobile video is becuase the majority people who are buying $2500+ video systems want to keep the factory head unit in thier cars. jas
