  • M5000 256 and ME 2 Question

OK my Beta CarPuter is a Via m5000 (pretty sure its a 533Mhz I tossed out the box)

with 256Megs I downloaded Media Engin last night cause a bunch of people like it and copied a few thousand MP3's over to it.
On this computer ME Runs so slow its not even funny (load times around 3-4 seconds everytime I switch songs). I guess I need more horse power to get what I am looking for.

    Now on to the questions

    1. Will Me run fast enough on a via 1ghz Chip ?? or shall I just get a bigger system and eat the cost of the power supply

    2. Too Run my Shuttle XPC I'll need a 200 Watt PS (SOmeone was kind enough to tell me who makes them)

I'll be checking out a few more but with wanting to play back DVD's and a GPS I think the 2.4Ghz celeron is going to be a better idea then a M1000

I have the M10000, DVD's play perfectly fine, and GPS works perfectly well. Believe me, it is plenty of power for any carputing need.

Thats good to hear. Just purchased a M10000. I also noticed that the EPIA C version doesn't have SPDIF support, like the EPIA M boards. I have a Orion Digital DEQ30 which has SPDIF input, 2 channel only though

Wonder why they did away with the SPDIF on the C boards.
