  • Help with inverter

I just got the Galaxy 150 inverter in the mail today from MP3CAR... I plug it in, turn the car on, the inverter on, go for the computer switch and nothing happens. I try again, nothing works. So as a test I plug my computer directly into the wall via an extension cable and test it. It works. Then I try the inverter again (desperate) and nothing happens. To test the inverter, I got a cheap rechargeable-toothbrush thing and plugged it into the inverter. Not even that would light up when going through it. I would think that a toothbrush cradle should be able to run off of a 150W inverter, no? Hmm

I'm wondering if I a) have a faulty inverter, b) my car-lighter adapter or the sorts are set up wrong. I noticed my car adapter runs off a 20amp fuse while the inverter goes off a 30amp fuse built into itself. Should these be the same? Anyway, any help/suggestions would be appreciated...

check your car wiring and see how you plug your inverter in your car. test the output of your inverter see any output voltage.

Checked the voltage. No voltage is running through the AC plug. And yes, the fuse was correct and the green light was on signaling it was getting power from the DC plug, but not transforming it. If anyone else has ideas, I'd be glad to hear them, but in the meantime...

only suggestion i would give right now is "return" the unit. if you measure the AC out of the inverter and get nothing out of it, then it really mean bad. I assume that you swith your voltage meter to AC instead of DC.

if you have Costco club store near by your area, i just suggest you go there and get the inverter. I bought 300watt power inverter for 34 bucks and it work like a charm

I would go with a little more than 150 Watts anyway.

Yes, 150 watts might not be enough for an in-car desktop system.
