  • Little help please...

    Hello,
Well my project started about three weeks ago. I have had very much success in find all need info by searching this forum. Expect for one major issue. I have a Pontiac Sunfire 99 w/ sun & sound package. Which means it comes with an am/fm/cd player with eq. Does anybody know if this head unit has any inputs that I can use. The only other choice I have is a FM mod. I don't wish to buy a new head unit. I love the head unit and it outputs great sound. I can't find any info, expect for one post about a connection on the 99 Grand Am head unit. And no info on the net. I have yet to look behind the radio, b/c it is in a compact area and have no plans of trying to tear the dash apart to find nothing. Any suggestions welcomed and info greatly appriated.

    Thanx,

I have found some info about Delco radios.

This site lists the pins on the wiring hardness(es) for Delco Radios. Also has model numbers for Delco radios but no data sheets.

    http://mnrelectronics.com/delwirschem.html

Also this site lists car audio infomation about most cars.

    http://www.installdr.com/

I found out a few things. One my radio cost $350, unless info. How to remove the plastic covering my radio, it only takes 2 minutes. The pin-out for my wire harness. I still don't know if my radio has aux inputs, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. There looks to be an antenna pin for a FM mod. I will find out tomorrow when I have more light and can uninstall the radio.

Ok, after a little pulling I got the HU out. It does use a Delco 21-pin. It also has a 8-pin connector on the back, for which I have no clue what it is for. It isn't marked. Does anybody know? My current 21-pin connector is missing pin 11-15/16. So I need to get a new wire harness to test to see if I have aux inputs. Fingers still crossed.
