  • Slimline cd rom pin out?

    Has any one got any links or pics they could put up about the pin outs on a slimline cd rom drive , the 50 pin end please.

    Its in another language, but it looks like it would still make sense. I don't know what you are planning but would it be easier for you to get an adaptor? Just slimline IDE adaptor. I've seen them for ~$15.

      Ive already got an adapter of sorts, it actually came out of a old laptop, i just needed to make sure about the power bit thats all.

              Regarding the audio connection, I thought it it had to be connected to the soundcard, too. But I recently hooked up a slim cd-rom via an adaptor like in binary.h4x's pic, to a 2.5" IDE-USB adaptor, and to my surprise, CDs play fine without the audio cable.
              Did that link give you what you need?

                ah, that is probably because you did a 2.5 to USB... if it were a 2.5 to 3.5 i bet you wouldnt get sound.

                  XP gets audio directly from the disk unlike previous windows that used if from the sound card.
