  • 4" LCD Power

    Hey guys,
I finally got the 4" LCD from partsexpress, and i'm wondering:

    1. How are you guys enclosing it?

    2. Where are you drawing the 12v. from? Are you fusing the line?

ok, the answer to your questions in order.

1.) the visor just because it was an additional LCD and not my main one.

2.) the power supply from the CPU (and yes i am running an inline fuse.... better safe than sorry).

I bought a project box from Radio Shack that just fit.

12V from the cigarette lighter (fuse in the cord)

Or 12v from wall wart power supply fused also.

Now long term it won't stay in the project box, but for now it is just fine.

        Dodge,
That 4" lcd looks pretty good with that GPS software. Did you have to do anything special to get the display so readable?

It is running Street Atlas RWE. That program allows you to magnify the screen, so it is set to 200% magnification.

Also cenwesi has some good info on his site for menu sizes within the program.

And I have all the system fonts up to 16 or 18 point type (but that doesn't help this program much)

With everything cranked up like that it is very legible (I sit about 3 feet away), but I cannot see the mouse...so I need to get a bigger mouse Icon with more distinguising characteristics.

          Hope that helps!

What are you using for a mouse?

I am currently using the Logitec Trackman Marble+ (trackball), but I am eyeing the Fingerpointer Mouse.
