you need to make it a system disk not just copy the files onto it

You won't be able to boot from it if it isn't a system disk (cos it won't have the necessary boot sector for example). Don't know if you need to boot from it.

Try the DOS command "sys" to transfer the system to a new disk.

i should've mentioned that the entire computer doesn't boot up, not just the other hard drive.

You can make any disk a system disk in DOS by using the command:

                sys driveletter

so sys a: would make a bootable floppy.. or sys c: would make a hard drive bootable etc etc...

You can also do it when you format a disk.. so:

                format driveletter /s

The fact that your entire machine wont come up, may very well be a result of the master slave problem. How to determin if a drive is in master or slave mode is usually written somwhere on the harddrive. If no text is available, look for pretty much any jumpers and thes three letters M S C (master, slave, cable) I have never had any succes with the cable select though ..

The other guys tell you to "sys" your harddrive, this is correct, but they fail to tell you that you have to make sure that your partition must be set to active. this is done in fdisk, very easy just look at the main menu and i think it is item nr 2 ...

You do however not tell us how far your machine goes .. do ytou have a blank screen, does it say no boot disk in drive (or something like that) or what
