    is it allright, to use a fluid dynamic bearing, laptop drive in the car, or will it mess it up in the winter, or does that apply only to regular hardrive.

    Any fluid bearing's fluid is going to thicken up in the winter so the same applies to laptop drives. The problem is (like oil in your car, the reason for using 10W30 in thw inter over 10W40) in the winter the oil thickens up and locks the bearing.

      so, what would i use then, i just have a regular, laptop drive, and i have used in jan, and it worked good, do i jsut take a risk, or do they make laptop drives, with no fluid in it

        let the CPU and such keep it warm even tho that goes against all computer building standards

          my advice is to stay away from fluid bearings, laptop or desktop. Regular bearings are a proven solution.
