  • DVD DRIVE Adaptor

Ok I got an IBM Thinkpad DVD drive to hook up into my setup that I am starting. Problem is, I got the DVD drive and its got a weird hookup on the back. Does anyone know if there is an adaptor for this?

PS I stole this picture from someone elses post, but there was no answer posted for it either.

the part i have circled is just an adapter. see if you can find the screws to get this adapter off. behind that adapter is th normal laptop drive ide. you can pick up the adapter for that on ebay.

Behind it should be the ATAPI / E-IDE interface.

Should send that drive over to Frodo so he can watch dvd's , but yeah like everyone said you just take out the 4 screws in the back and pull the connecter off then you can either goto ebay or some other website and buy the adapter for it which looks like this

Which you can get from this site which sucks in price but you get the idea.

Yup, the DVD for my gateway portable had a similar adapter screwed in place. Underneath was the correct socket for the ide adapter pictured above.
