  • EPIA M10000 TV-out not working!!

I used to be able to take my carpc out of my car and using a RCA (composite) cable plug the pc into a TV and boot her up without any problems. Then all of a sudden it stopped working! I tried setting my BIOS settings to TV + CRT or just TV but the only thing that does is show the POST (boot up) on the TV then when its about to load into Windows 2000 the screen goes blank again.
Under the advanced properties of the video card I tried selecting TV but it is greyed out. Also I had installed different drivers to try and get 16:9 working on my 7" LCD screen which led me to believe that was the issue. But a couple of weeks ago I reformatted the machine and installed the original drivers that came with the CD and it still didnt work!

Anyone had the same problem before? Its really very annoying!

I had a similar problem when upgrading from ME to XP. ME would always default to whatever I had plugged in, whether it was composite or VGA. When I Upped to XP, it would default to VGA. I had to plug in both a TV and monitor at the same, then set it to composite only in windows, then shutdown and pulled my monitor off, then powered back up with composite only. Then it worked. I dunno how you're gonna fix it though if your composite is greyed out, unless you didn't have anything plugged into it when you were trying to switch. That's the only thing I can think of.

Anyone else experienced this problem? or can perhaps help out?
        I have a feeling it is a Windows 2k and/or drivers problem.

Did you try what I suggested? Did it work? The thing is, you won't have to plug in both everytime. What I had to do is plug in both ONCE, to be able to switch over to my composite. Then I unplugged my VGA and shut down the comp. Now, every time I fire it up, it defaults to my composite. The only thing I don't really know about is if you put it back into your car and fire it up with VGA, will it then start to default to VGA. I know that even if you get your composite to default, you vga will still work in windows if you don't have anything plugged into your composite, but I don't know if it will reset it to default.

I had similar problems when I started with my m10000. placing a 75 ohm reisstor across the CRA plug will cause the system to think you have a tv connected. also, I found that changing the refresh / scan rate slightly would make my tv & VGA out display more reliabel ( I think I have it set to 50 Hertz)

Would something like a 75 ohm rca coupler work for the trick?
