  • slim optical enclosure with internal battery

Anyone have any experience with one of these?

I saw one other post about someone who found the manufacturer, but had no idea where to buy one.

This enclosure has an internal battery that charges continuously from the USB/firewire bus and doesn't require an external power source. This sounds like a good solution, but what I want to know is how long the battery will last. I think I will most be using it to install software and rip cds, but I will also want to be able to watch a whole dvd movie, and maybe even rip a dvd movie.

I'd rather not mess with another power line if I can help it.

On a side note, I am planning on using the dvd drive that is in my laptop and putting that in the enclosure, anyone have any idea what it would take to just extend the ribbon cable from the laptop say, 1-2 feet? then I shouldn't have any problems with power, etc, but I don't have any idea what it woudl take to extend it that far.
