i have a lilliput 8 inch touch screen. when i add even a short extension (1 foot) the touch screen no longer works but i do get display. i actually need to add about 5 foot to it, but until i can find a solution thats not gonna happen..

any idea what would cause the touch screen to stop witha longer cable?

All you need is a 9 pin Mini-DIN cable extension. I have a 12ft. one running right now with no loss of video quality or touchscreen usability.
1.6GHz HP e-PC, 768MB RAM, 120GB WD HDD, Slim DVD-ROM, Onboard sound & video, 7" Lilliput, USB GPS Mouse, Audiovox FM Modulator, Vector 400 Watt Power Inverter, Windows XP Pro SP2, iGuidance 2, 15" Samsung LCD for the rear *Carputer not installed*

I have a 7" Lilliput (not the 8") but I assume they probably use the same connection at the monitor. It is a 9 pin Mini-DIN connection, it much easier to extend this one cable then to do separate VGA and USB extensions (also cheaper).

          John Crowe,
A 9-pin mini-din cable or a VGA cable paired with a USB cable will do it. I personally had problems with the mini-din, so I would recommend using a VGA and USB cable.

          Muskin,

problem i seem to have is that one bootup it works next one touchscreen wont...odd problem. Almost like the extra length is creating some kind of voltage drop and sceen cant power display and touchpad

Hey now. I clearly prefaced it, so as not to be misleading. And I didn't "make **** up"; many of the VGA connections are unused. I said, "if that's the case", and as it turned out, it wasn't. Sure, speculation often isn't useful, but the scenario seemed fairly likely, and I didn't want to withold it if it happened to be right.

More likely the longer cable is bad, unless, of course, you've tried another long cable. I suppose you're testing this with a USB cable?

                Muskin,
Withholding made-up information? Imagine if everybody thought this way. The search function would be rendered impotent.

Sigh... In wasn't applicable, but none of the info was "made up". And it's "mushin" not "muskin"...

Sorry John, for this little spat. Hope you get your problem figured out.

<edit> fouling search is a good point, so I just deleted my post.
