  • powering a usb hub using a timer circuit

Im using a laptop so i've bought a dc-dc converter to step down the 12v to around 4.5volts to power my usb hub.

However I dont want to take the risk of having the dc-dc converter plugged in when starting the engine. I dont think the instructions for the converter would have "only plug in to cig lighter when the engine has started" for no reason.

So would the following circuit work ok? Basically cut of the circuit for a few seconds until the engine has started then give power to the converter:

    Cheers for ya help.
