  • Aiwa sucks!!! never buy any of their stuff...

About a month ago i bought an Aiwa cd player only because of the 1/8" input jack. It was ther top of the line model too. I was very reluctant to buy it because my $400 home cd player broke after 3 months... Well, this one set a new record. Its broken and its barely been a month. Put a disc in and it sits there and tries to read it, but doesnt. I KNEW i shouldnt have bought the damn thing. NEVER AGAIN will those bastards get a cent from me. Now im gonna have to rip the thing out and return it...

      Mate try doing this
open the case and clean the laser head with alcohol!
I found that to be a big problem with cd players specialy if you live in dasty area.
      Anyway give it a try

I have the panasonic 800U. It's way out of your price range. but it was out of mines too but, i couldn't find any decent deck for around 200 bucks. and the panasonic has RCA inputs instead of that headphone jack. I picked mines up for 300, 310 with shipping. i'll tell you that i'm happy with it. i think way more happier than if i got the aiwa. don't have to deal with any dangling cables coming out of the front face.

Crutchfield (www.crutchfield.com) is advertising the Pioneer DEH-P3100 for 189.95. it would cost another $40 for the adapter, but I had a Pioneer CD player for 5 years, moved it into the diffrent vehicles I owned, and eventually replaced it for more features. I gave the head unit to a buddy of mine and its still working great after 7 years.

You can get the best prices possible, especially on Pioneer. Pioneer is dependable and inexpensive compared to other brands. I couldn't count on two hands all the people at school who have Pioneers and no one has ever had a problem. Have fun...

Well, the place i bought the player from decieded to screw me over and not take it back 4 days out of the 30 day no questions asked return policy. That leaves sending it off to Aiwa to get fixed... and repeat that process every few months till the warranty runs out. There is a head realignment button (they knew they had a problem) that helps a little, but its not perfect.

I was hoping they would let me exchange it for a JVC KD-sx850, but they wouldnt. Oh well, ill have to deal with this for a while and I'll replace it with the JVC when this ones completely ****ed. If you remember, a month ago i posted messages saying how i was worried about buying another Aiwa etc. and my fears came true.... oh well.

The previous owner of my car had a pioneer w/ no inputs or adapter for inputs for 5 years and it still works fine. Its definitly quality stuff. Hopefully JVC will be as good, its a little cheaper and has more features.

Chalk me up as a Pioneer supporter. Had my last head unit for 4 years...still worked, but replaced it with a new Pioneer with more features.

                          Stealth-

If I was you I would go directly to either the manager of the store where you bought it or to the Aiwa factory, main office, or whatever and keep bothering them until some kind of agreement is reached. I know that any reputable car audio dealer will do almost anything to make the customer happy and keep his reputation reputable. A 1 month old head unit dying is not acceptable, and you should not have to put up with it, period. Good luck...
