  • USB Video Cards? (for gaming)

My machine with the most powerful processer is my laptop (Toshiba Satellite a25-s3072). It's a p4 3.05. But the video is horrible. I can not play any 3d games. I'm not much of a gamer but I really want to try out this Halo 2 game. Any suggestions?

OK. Well I have some other options. I have a p4 1.5 w/ 513 RDRAM 800. It's actually a Dell Demension 8100. What video graphics card would be recommended for a moderate/newbie gamer? Around $100? Like I said I want to be able to play newer games.

      Any here? http://www.compgeeks.com/products.asp?cat=VCD

Custom: I don't play enough to justify that price. Thanks anyway.

But it will not have the performance for a 3d game

I couldn't disagree more but anyways...

                      MSI Radeon 9800 Pro
That card rocks!!! Super duper fast. A bit more than you want to pay but well worth it. That card is highly recommended on overclockers.com because the chips on those MSI cards are flashed as 9800 XTs! This which you can see here is a very good thing. All you have to do is download ATI tool and up the memory and core speeds to that of an XT. The MSI comes with a huge heatsink (if you pull of the heatsink it has thermal pads on the smaller chips and artic silver on the main chip) and fan. Just look at the ratings at Newegg on that card. Remember it is only the MSI version that is like this.
That card will easily support Doom 3 on the highest video detail.

                      Opus 150W/DVD/GPS/7" Lilliput TS/802.11g/Bluetooth
                      Installed.

It might not be a video problem. You might just lack RAM. If you have around 256 megs of RAM, you're considered outdated now I know because that's what I have and I can't play NFS Underground even though I got a nice 64 meg video card in my laptop. My friend has the same specs as me, even a little lower for the exception of RAM - he has twice as much as I do and that game simply flies on his computer

Are you talking about memory on your video card? If so 256MB is not in any way outdated. You mention your 64MB video card later so I'm not sure... I thought he said he had 512MB of system memory.
