  • Sound Cards?

I am going to put together your generic Character LCD system with a bare-bones computer running (most likely) winamp. Now I am trying to make this computer as small as possible, while still keeping good quality components and such; this draws my concern. I am wondering what a good high fidelity sound card might be, while staying in a reasonable pricerange of around $100. I understand that Creative and Diamond make some good stuff, but they are greatly focused on 3D gaming sound. Is there a sound card that might be a better buy, because it is designed for mp3 and music listening?

I have tried many sound cards. I would highly recommend getting a soundblaster AWE64 or AWE64 gold. I replaced my SB16 with one and the ignition noise in my system went away. They also seem to have a very good quality output.
