  • adding a printer or ext display

im setting up a car pc (laptop based) and as well as mp3 and gps i would like to use it for work, during the day i use about 15 pairs of horseshoes and i would like to set something up so i could check off ones i used with my touchscreen then display a list in my shed when i get home to restock the van. the best thing i have found so far is a bluetooth printer adaptor kit so i could put a printer in the shed to give me a list but i might as well just copy onto paper when in the van. what i would love would be another touchscreen in the shed that would auto sync to the car when in range and i could tick stock off as i took it from the shelf. can i do this without putting a full pc system in the shed or does anybody have any other ideas. (just seems to be an expensive way of playing music at the mo!) thanks!

Well you could do is try get one of those wireless video (but I havent seen a VGA one) kits for the external monitor. But I dont know about the touchkit. It might be converted into infrared or bluetooth signals easily...
Or you could place a vga splitter in your car, find where your vehicle takes in petrol and place a socket for usb and vga next to hole for petrol. Mount the touchscreen in the shed then run cables to reach to where the vehicle would be. So when your car pulls in all you do is pop the lid for the petrol and plug in the vga and usb cables.
Maybe the bluetooth printer is the best option, Or you could use an old pc in the shed connected to the touchscreen monitor and sync it with the carputer using wifi.

It seems like you need a whole supply management/warehouse solution. Isn't it just simpler to have a piece of paper and just checking off the items you need? You're overcomplicating your life if the solution with the computer is more difficult than using conventional methods.

Use remote desktop connection with a wifi connection and put a second computer in the shed.
