  • Wow... 4 second resume from hibernation

I just tried to hibernate my laptop today instead of StandBy....

Coming out of standby usually takes about 2-3 seconds. But it eventually kill the laptop's battery if I didnt drive the car for a day.

But I just timed it today, and it takes 3.9 seconds for it to come out of hibernation and start playing! That's pretty damn fast !!!!

Are you including POST? Mine just out of hibernation is faster then that, if you are including POST also then that is pretty fast.

If you ask me, i think that FAT32 systems are faster in startup from hybernate then NTFS systems !

I have a toshiba laptop, satellite model don't remember the specific model at the moment, but when i hibernate or sleep when it powers back up it skips post pretty much its there for maybe a second then goes right to resuming from hibernate with windows. I haven't timed the resume but I would say definitely under 6 seconds including post which hardly even counts.

                        It's a 2.8 ghz p4 with 512 mb of ram.

There are all kinds of threads about hibernation times. But I wanna post here too. P4 2.0 512mb ram, resume from hibernate in 4 seconds. I've since limited ram size to 200mb, and it cuts it down to 3 secs. You're right about the "powah" of the P4

I know the feeling I was getting 12 secs before I upgraded my hard drive, now with a P4 2.2 with 256MB ram i'm getting 5 seconds with post.

and going into hibernate went from 7 seconds to instant.
