What kind of adapter is it? Slimline to IDE? If so you'll just need an IDE cable. If you don't have some laying around then the only place I can think of locally is a ratshack.

As PPGT94 said, it should be just a standard IDE ribbon cable. Check for a picture or details from where you ordered it from. Most also use a floppy power connector for drive power. If the drive won't be within 18" to 24" from the motherboard then think about a IDE/USB adapter.

Slimline CD to IDE adapter 12.7mm this is what i ordered, so i guess that adapter just plugs right into the back of the cd-rom? and i dont need a cable?

The black connector shown will plug into the back of the drive. It has the power and data pins all in one. on the bottom side is the standard 40 pin header connector for a standard IDE cable and a separate floppy drive power connector which powers the drive through the adapter.
