  • The svideo and rca ports on the M1000.

On the epia m1000, it has 1 rca and 1 svideo ports. Are these only used for sending signals OUT of the computer?

Or can i hook up a camera to the svideo or rca port of the computer and be able to view the camera image thru the computers monitor?

        They make usb ones.
You may also be able to find a low profile capture card, but I dunno.

ok so the next obvious question is..

does anyone have any links to cheap usb capture cards? I can get PCI cause i have no clearance to put it in. I need one that hooks thru USB like Frodo says.

          Would this work?

Go get an AverMedia QuickPlay from CompUSA. It's under $100 and plugs into your USB (for power) and VGA ports and *instantly* (no drivers required, and works at power-up!) sends video via s-video or component (depends which model you buy).

If you're looking for a video INPUT solution, you could buy a Dazzle (now owned by Pinnacle) USB solution for under $100 as well. Or, if your video camera has FireWire and you have FireWire ports on your computer, just plug that in and you should be able to see video using Windows Movie Maker.

The AverMedia QuickPlay is a video output solution, but it's a good choice for those who don't want to buy the more expensive VGA displays for their cars.

Not sure if the above question was answered or not.

I ooking for a cheaper solution than the cheesebox to get an RCA camera to switch with the reverse light trigger. I can live with it only working when the computer is on, but would then require it to use frodocam because of my non-existent programming skills

The Xenarc screen has an RCA input you can hook directly to your camera and will switch to that input when it detects a signal, so if your reverse cam comes on with the reverse lights, it will switch to it.

I believe the new Lilliput's have this feature, but I'm not certain.
