    Hi All,

Just have some questions that I need cleared up.
Can the VIA M10000 go into an S3 (suspend to ram) standby.. I love the desktop turning on within a few seconds.. better make sure the carputer will as well..

Also I have made the decision to go VIA smaller board rather than a full size ATX which was my original plan, I can source 300W DC-DC power supplies for them for about $150usd so I was quite happy there, but now I need a bit of info on the VIA boards pro's and cons and so forth.

I wanted to run voice recognition in my car, any chances that the CPU will take that.. only really short commands.

Thanks all in advance for your help,

    Tim.

The M10000 does stand by, but it doesn't turn off the hdd, you can still hear the system running, but you can change the settings in BIOS. Mine goes into hibernating, so not much use for the stand by feature. It's a perfect board for in car use, by this meaning you can run almost all kind of apps, without much difference from a full ATX board...the lousy thing about it is that the video is really crappy, so you won't be able to play NFSU2 in case you were wondering...

Do what I'm doing. Get a PS2 and run it as another video-in straight to the monitor.

The via should handle it, but the CPU is not the real problem. Your bigger problem will be getting clean audio into the the system. Recognition will suck unless you can do something about road noise. i.e. get a headset.

Really short commands are the worst thing you could give a voice recognition system. The longer commands you give, the easier it will be to distinguish one from the others.
