  • Antenna Hookup to TV Tuner.... WHAT AND HOW????

Looking at the "FlyTV Prime 30 / 30FM TV AND VIDEO CAPTURE CARD" for a TV Tuner as im going to start collecting my parts

My question is, what kind of antenna do you dudes use to receive the TV signal, how big is it, where do you place it, how good is the reception

    Any info would be appreciated
also anyone had any problems with the FlyTV Prime 30?

    how good is the reception
sucks - unless you spend some $$$

    (1) I have tried a wire dipole - poor
    (2) Rabbit Ears - little better but still - poor
    (3) Car Antenna - better than most but still - poor -
    (4) U or V shape Car TV Antenna - ugly but Good - see them on limos

I tested at my house - And I can see all the local TV towers

I have yet to try something like this
    Roof Mount TV Antenna

    or this - same thimg

H-Style above Headliner UHF/VHF mount antenna.

    Or this - different

Four way rear window glass amplified antenna

Most of the good Antennas for this, are made into to the tv tuners,
that are made for in-car use - or I should say the Antennas are
switched and amped the by TV tuner - that is, you have a few
Antennas and it switches to the one with the best singnal and
keeps switching to keep the best singnal - Its called a Diversity
Antenna - I have not tried one, but I here they work well
    and cost $$$

Here is a high brow definition of a Diversity Antenna

    ANTENNA DIVERSITY

Oh and there is a Flat, roof mount Satellite TV Antenna but its $2000
    looks good tho

Thats the problem with cars, there metal and keep TV signals out

          - I tested in the car at home - you will not now how good the
antenna works till you try it in you car - And on top of that
it acts different when driving, also It may look perfect sitting still,
but when driving, it may have lines or fades in and out - or not get
any thing at all - the limo antenna was good enough watch with
just a little bit of lines and fuzz - when driving - but its ugly,
the Car Antenna is what I am using now - and looks perfect
sitting still but when driving its unwatchable - not that I am
          watching TV when driving -

I may try that H-Style one next - It will be a few weeks tho
I think its just a dipole but with 2 coils of wire

The November 1993 issue of Electronics Now had an article titled "Build a Diversity Antenna and Improve the Performance of Any Car Stereo!". The article has a circuit for an active two antenna diversity system for FM radio. Maybe someone would know how to tweak the circuit for TV reception.

I work at an electronics store (about the size of 6 radio shacks put together) and we have a bunch of those wintenna boomerang antennas and they have been sitting for a while. I know they work great but most people think they are only for limos. Let me know if you are interested and I can get you some good pricing since they are just collecting dust right now. I was going to try one out but I have not got around to it. Please pm me if you have questions about pricing.
