    making a molex extension

i've been advised to use a lower gauge wire, so i'll use 12

are there special tools for working w/molex pins etc or should i just butt connect to the wire

the 5v line is going to be split to a USB hub... should i just use a tap in or should i try something else?

can i do the same with one of the ground lines for the usb hub?

get the pins out with a needle - im not sure where you are but in the UK maplins sell bare molex, pair of pliers are adequate to crimp the small connectors

the problem is molex kits are rated for 18-20 awg here...

i saw replacement pins here for 14 gauge but i need 12...

i think i'll just put fuses in line...

Modding molex connectors is pretty easy. You just need a needle and a little patience. I've modded almost all of my wires from the molex connectors. Once you get the wire out with the needle, get the wire out of the metal thing carefully so you won't damage it, and replace it.

You can get a special tool for molex, I have one I think it makes this easier. But if you do not re-wire Molexes much a small flat screwdriver or pin will work.

The screwdriver will not work. I'm really missing the correct word here...

jsut be careful when you bend the tab back out before you put the pin/socket back in the housing. I use a jewellers screwdriver to flattent he tab and then a knife blade to carefully bend it back out again.
