  • Mobo options

Basically there are two main options here: Micro ATX and Mini ITX. But I have found one other - the PC104 specification. Mainly used for industrial applications and typically underpowered, I think one with a Pentium M would be the go. The board has enough grunt to do what I want it to do (watch a DVD, play MP3s) and fits inside a 3.5 inch floppy bay. Anyone even thought of going this route? Any thoughts?

There's lots of other options besides mini & microATX.
hell, you can go with a desktop board, if you've got the space for it...

Embedded solutions have been tossed around these forums for some time....
    Search and ye shall find....
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Not for my car. I barely have enough room for one other person as it is now. Embedded/SBC is how I'm leaning at the moment it's just a pain in the proverbial getting prices from some of the vendors. I was originally going to go with a Micro ATX board and ~1GHz Athlon but an SBC with a Pentium M 1.1GHz is tempting.

I'm just reopening this one for fresh discussion. There may be a lurker or two out there who's used one of these boards in a recent install and hopefully has some input.

        Mine isn't recent, but it's embedded and it's PC104. http://www.nav.to/robwithey

Not too bad. Exactly what I'm looking for in the "not noticeable" department. Hmmmm, lots to ponder.
