  • I fit an opus 90w in Morex case, Pix and a few tech Q's for safety

thru some modifying, i managed to fit an Opus 90w PCB into the morex 3677 case. A few questions/concerns about doing this:
the first 2 pictures are how i would like to have the board oriented since the power wires would exit that side thru the back of the case, but as you can see the USB connection is very close to the yellow thing. (sorry, don't know what thats called).
    -What is that yellow thing?
    -does it get hot?
-is it okay to have the USB plug hitting it?
-is bending the pins upward a bit an option? just enough to clear the yellow thing.

the next two pics are with the board turned 180* the other way.
the fit is better as far as the USB connection goes, BUT:
-does the black version of the yellow thing get hot?
-Would there be any type of interfearance with either the yellow or black thing and the USB plug wires/signal?

the last pic is of the PCB sitting on a foam pad for next to the Via MB. its a very snug fit, but a nice fit. i will probably use 2 way tape for the pad to case, and some other option yet determnined for the PCB to pad. any ideas for that?

Bend the usb pins all you want
Break them off if you really want
If youre not using them it doesnt matter; its not like theyre connected to anything

    Go for it

actualy they are in use, or they will be. i just didn't have the room to plug in the plug from the MB.

The "yellow thing" is basiclly the only thing in the PSU that gets a little hot. From what I can see in your first pic, you could place a couple of spacers underneathe the small PCB ths mounting in an upper position so that the PSU won't touch it.

well I'm just not sure how to get the wires from the Opus into the case w/o cutting holes (motherboard power, HD power and on\off)... but i'll probably just end up cutting holes.

Well, either go for a bigger case, so that you can fit the 150 inside it, or don't bother with a case at all.
