  • RDS-TMC Receiver for USB?

I've been searching my eyes out for a RDS-TMC receiver for USB so I can add traffic reports to my homemade frontend. The closest thing I've found is one at cartft.com that also does GPS, but I already have that part (plus it's a bit expensive I think).

Does anyone know of such a device, or maybe schematics for building one? - RS232 interface would be acceptable as well.

For anyone interested, I found that silabs have a nice Si4701 that looks just like what I wanted - well, it's just a chip, but RS232 can be added with some more components.

      But....
The integration of GNS FM module always requires a extra support for GNS
      development team.
At present we have several single inquiries for FM tuners and we are not

based on mentioned reasons above, the goal market of this product are

      1.001 to 2.000pcs 33,51 EURO net
      2.001 to 5.000pcs 32,50 EURO net
      '5.001 to 10.000pcs 29,60 EURO net

The TMC data is just in the RDS so you can extract if from Seths USB tuner when that comes out i belive. BUT you need a subscription to TMC as I dont't think it is free. Look for a recent thread on a possible GPS alternative to D3 where they bundle it with the same GPS/RDS reciever that cartft sell.

That place mentioned above make that reciever and they also offer a compact flash RDS/TMC reciever for PDAs - dunno if it can be hacked for PC use and it should be available in single orders. I posted a bit about these devices a while ago.

If you are in the UK i would forget TMC

I'm in Denmark where RDS-TMC is free and is being broadcast on a specific nation-wide channel (DR-P3). The only thing that's might be hard to obtain is the location table -- which I got from the local authorities upon request

Oh, and I've also got the documents describing how to decode the TMC goups in RDS, so all I need is a feed of the received RDS-data.

Then all you need is an RDS capable radio i think. Did you see that compact flash reciever? might be able to get it to run in XP.

EDIT: or i would just flog your existing GPS abd get the one from cartft with built in RDS-TMC.
