  • Couple of questions.

I have a couple quesitons, sorry for the n00bness but I searched already. I am looking into building a carputer and had a couple questions.

    1. Are there any things to stay away from when building my project.

    2. Should I get a slower system? I want it to be able to do movies, gps, music ect. what kinda of system am I looking at to get a quick computer thats not loading stuff all of the time.

    3. What kind of power supplies work best.

    4. I am wondering why people are using suck small Harddrives. Why wouldnt i be using a 250 gig 7200 rpm drive?

    Please help me out

    1. VIA
    2. Some won't work with answer to #1 (esp. video)
    3. Opus 150w
    4. 7200rpm draws a lot of power... so a 10,000rpm drive draws even more

So what kind of speed am I looking at for a decent carputer. Something about 2ghz or so? Will 512 megs of ram be enough? (pc2700) and as far as a hard drive. Could I get a 250 gig 5400 rpm drive? Would think be fast enough but at the same time not need too much power? I think I will be getting the opus 150

Some people here have been running Athlon Mobile processors on the opus 150w PSUs.
