  • My -12V on Biostar M7NCG400 ... ALERT?!

I am running an M7NCG400 board. When using the Winboard Hardware Doctro software (included in Nvidia's CD for this mobo) I am getting an Alert 1-3 times every minute about the -12V exceeding the limits.

Value reported is typically -12.93V so it is crossing the -13V limit quite frequently upon fluctuations. What's even stranger is that I can 'force' the error by just grabbing the window and moving violently left/right. I can repeat this every time. huh!

Does this mean that I am having problems with my 12V rail? Is this related to my PSU directly?

Just wanted to know if this could cause hardware damage, and what to do to fix.

    Thanks!

    What PSU are you useing?

What does the bios say the voltages are when boot, or in the bios itself?

I had no luck useing that software tool, i played with it when i OC'ed my mobile 2400+ are you running your CPU, ram ect at stock voltage? have yor OC'ed the processor at all?

For the time being, it's setup at home. Running on a 300W Codegen PSU (for 110V).

The utility worked for me right away. I am running at 11x multiplier, with 133 Mhz FSB. (so it's actually underclocked ~20%).
Voltage set to 1.45V for CPU.
      Everything else default.

Any idea if this -13V on the rail is a really BAD thing?

I honestly dont know how bad a thing that it or is not.

try checking the PSU's -12v with a multimeter and see if it is @ -13 then you know if the culprit is the PSU or the mobo.
