  • EPIA M10000 + Carnetix 1290 + PW-200 -problems

I can't get the EPIA to boot with the board hooked to the PW-200 and a 12V AC Adapter plugged into the wall. Haven't test it with the 1290 yet. I have one 2.5 HDD and one slim 8X DVD to add to it but for now no booting once I plug an ATX power button on it. The board was just sitting on the plastic -like protective sheet that came with the box and not mounted to anything yet. Do I need to mount it before it'll function? If it's like all other ATX boards it shouldn't.

Any ideas what it could be?

It should boot with just power supply and switch connected . have you tried it with a regular power supply?

I have a 400W ATX but won't that be overkill?

How much power does that 12V adaptor provide? It probably doesn't put enough out.

The 400W ATX power supply only means that it CAN put out 400w if the system asks for it. If the system needs less, that's all it will supply. It ought to be okay.

From a review at the link you supplied:

"90 watts? yeah right. printed on the back of the unit '65 watt max' on AC and '70 Watt Max' on DC. It's a 70Watt unit. If you only need a 70 watt unit, it seems like it would be ok."

Try the 400 watt unit and see. Its not clear this one has enough juice. Or return it and get this.. I think it costs the same or less.

that is probally cutting it very very close as far as power goes. Did you try and get the mobo to post without anything plugged into it (thats usualy a good place to start, then plug things in and narrow the problem down)?

                            looneeii,

Are you sure the Kensington puts out +12V? Do you have a digital voltmeter you can check with? If it's not +12V +/-5% you may be frying your mobo since the PW-200 sends the input voltage directly to the mobo.
