  • Starting a project, need help

Ok, I have done a lot of reading on this post lately. I am about to start my own carputer project and I was hoping someone could just look it over for me and tell me if there is anything else I need and if it will work ok.

Also I was wondering, do you have to have a case for it or can I just mount everything in my glove box and just make a cover plate for it? I really dont want to spent $100-200 for something that I will just cover up.

This is what I have planned:
    OPUS 120W DCX3.120 $128
    VIA EPIA M10000 Mini-ITX Mainboard $158
    Transcend PC2100 DDR266/512MB $095 Logicsupply.com
    Panasonic Slim DVD-CD/RW $090
    3.5" Samsung 160GB Hard Drive $095 Logicsupply.com

Thank you in advance for any help.

looks ok to start, power is ok for that lot, no gps though, no wifi but perhaps your adding that later.

You can mount it in the glovebox but that makes it a pain if you want to take it indoors to work on it or upgrade it, why spend $100-200 tho? you can get cases much cheaper than that, or make your own from ally kit boxes, key cases, ive even seen someone build it in a plastic tool box... you just have to think about it, theres plenty things you can use.

The setup is ok. You might want to put everything into a case, as it's better protected. If you decide not to, then remember that everything needs to be grounded. The case did that for you.
