  • Good deal?

So does this combo look like a good deal? This is basically like what i was looking for but i really liked the ASUS mobo, but for the price i think i may get this. Anyone running similar setup as this?

I figure if i throw a gig of Corsair, slot load dvd/cd-r and a 40gb Laptop Hd on a 150 Opus, everything else i could run from seperate 12v power source.

What do you have against Via chipsets, B0ris?
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
      How about the Wiki?

Its VIA. I've used them. I'd rather pay $50 more than to deal with that crap.

And yes, I did install the latest drivers. The computer is just unstable, slow, etc. And no, it is not overheating.

              Far too broad a judgement

Sometimes VIA equipped boards suck, sometimes SiS equipped boards suck (a lot more times actually), sometimes nVidia equipped boards suck, etc etc

Ive had several VIA boards that have worked excellently
And remember also that a large percentage of people on here (including myself) are using VIA Epia boards and people run these just fine

I've nevr had an Nvidia board suck. Although, that might be because I stay with MSI.

I've never had problems with nVidia or Intel. Ever.

SiS and VIA I stay away from. I haven't tried Ali yet.

My current Shuttle XPC system with an nVidia 3 chipset has had many quirks

You cant just judge an entire line of products by the name thats slapped on it

                      Well, its a small computer.

I was judging VIA based on their reference board design for a p4 which I had. I'm so glad I got rid of it. if they can't make their own reference board stable, then I have no hope for their chipsets.

Well, I didn't say Shuttle was MSI....

MSI, IMHO, makes the best products. The only board I ever had a problem with was an MS-6368 board with a Via Chipset. But, I was not the only one with problems... that whole board line was screwy!!

                        Peace,

Yeh, MSI is good and so is Gigabyte. Never had a problem with those two with Intel and nVidia chipsets. I do have 2 dead Asus motherboards though

What about the onboard S3 chipset. I always had problems with S3 video.

Edit: And the AMD 2600 is pretty good. I have one and have no problems with it.
