This seems to be a better alternative to me; although I would love to hear reasons why it is not.

Oh, and I wonder wha success the 915 chipset has in displaying 800x480 as opposed to the 855 chipset.

Ah, that would be because yours has the earlier, older 855 chipset, as opposed to the 915GM chipset in the one I listed.....many differences in the new chipset, one of which may (or may not, I'm not sure) be the graphics.

Thanks for the heads up. I will note that. I am still in the planning stages and am not married to any one part of my proposed PC.

By "yours" I only meant the one you referred to, not that you actually owned it, or had it. Thats all.

Still trying to figure out what exact advantages the 915 chipset would give me, though.

Ah, ok, did a little googling, and here:

              http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/915gm/

are the advantages of the 915. Who woulda thunk that the intel website would list it? Duh...

And with a bit more searching, I found the users manual for the MB896, which natively supports 800x480 via a switch in BIOS!

                www.ibt.ca/documents/MB89610A.pdf

Looks like I know what my carputer will be, now. Now, if I can just get the DigitalWheelz screen for my 2005 G35 to come out....he keeps saying December.....and I keep wanting December to get here!

Good read. I may now be leaning this way now. Ahhhhh CarPC cost keeps rising. Looks like I need to start looking for more funds.

How about a teaspoon and 10?

I still haven't decided which route to take, Via or Intel. I do know that with the intel I will have more cpu speed but does that also mean more wattage being used?

If you get a Pentium M it will be relatively low wattage. More so than just the straight Via integrated chip, but still very low wattage. One the order of say 20-30 watts or so.

As an example, my laptop has a P-M 2.13, a nVidia 6800 Ultra Go laptop graphics, a 7200 rpm HD, and a 17" screen, and still runs on it's 150 watt supply no problem (and cool as well)

The right pentium-M solution (mini itx) :
