i have an external DVDRW and it has an adapter with it, from 240v AC to 12V DC, will i just be able to plug a 12v direct from by battery into it, obviously running through a fuse?

Neither. A regulated 12v power source is what you need.

Not necessarily. There are other power regulators out there.
Look in the store here for Carnetix units.

Assuming you've got unused power output from the Opus, certainly you could.
Remember that the Opus 150w only provides 5a on the 12v rail.
