  • Mounting disk vertically - on which side

    Hi,

I've read that mounting the disk vertically is safer.
On which side, however, should it lay? Can it lay
on its longer edge, its shorter edge and does it
    matter whether it's a left-right or top-bottom edge?

go to the faq.. there is a nice thread already discussing this.. from what i read initially there are no real findings to prove horizontal vs. vertically..

I've browsed the archive but found no explicit information as to whether it doesn't matter if the disk lies on its long side left side (cable) facing down or up.

As to mounting it vertically instead of horizontally in general, it is more convenient for me for now

The whole vertical vs. horizontal question is as old as it is unanswered. Really, people have seen around the same success rate with both methods.

As far as orientation, it doesn't matter if it lays on the shorter or longer edges. However, most cases seem to fit the drive laying longwise better as it allows for a thinner case.
