  • video signal mirroring?

has anyone found a way to inverse (mirror) a video signal from a camera??
i have found those cheap IR cameras (25-30 euros) and would like to use them as reverse camera!! but they do not inverse the image

most people go ahead and purchase the cameras that have it built in. One thing I would worry about is the picture quality on one of those cheap cameras.

    is it CCD?

Might want to read up in this thread to learn a bit more about the cameras and the different options avaliable out there:

there is no simple way to mirror the image...

it is not the same image as the pixels your used to.... composite uses a scan from top left start, to top right, back to left one later down, back to right, & basically zigzags across the screen till it reaches the end, bottom right... then starts over

to flip the image you have to alter the scan.... if it started from right to left, it would be mirrored, but this can't just be done in line.. it would be very complicated, basically the signal would need to be converted to digital, then altered... you can do this on your pc... but for a mirror image on a composite screen you will either need a camera that does mirror image or use a multiplexer that supports mirror image... or a screen that does mirror image..natively at the display itself...

that camera looks like crap also... the 0 lux rating is bs... the only reason they are advertizing 0 lux is AFTER the infrared assist... ANY camera will be 0 lux with infrared assist... that means nothing...

yea i know.. ofcourse 0 lux is with ir support.. but the same camera with the same characteristics is sold on line "for the car pc market" 70-80-90 euros.. that is my point..

i understand that image mirroring is not very simple but what the heck , this forum has solved more complicated problems

                  ofcourse not
                  same specifications though..
many things are overpriced when they have the title "for automotive use"!!
                  have seen it before.

                    same specs?

                    *sigh*

no, just because it's the same specs doesn't mean it's even close to the same thing.

Many times, things for the car are overpriced because they have to be ruggidized. That costs money, usually quite a bit of money. Just for starters.

Go ahead and get the camera. Since it's wrong of someone to try and save you money and keep you from making a bad decision/bad purchase, I'll refrain from going any further with you.

ofcourse i am not going to buy the camera.. it is useless as a reverse camera.
i want a wide angle , water resistant camera.. just curious why there is so much difference in prices when you buy an ordinary "spy camera" and an "car reverse camera" even though they might be the same thing.. is it the label?

                        no, it's not the label

the build quality many times will be heads and shoulders above the cheap 'spy' camera. Not to mention the picture quality, the waterproofness, the Ir functions, etc.

You are now telling us that you never intended to buy the camera? Then why in your first post did it sound an awful lot like you were going to buy it?

that is not always true however..sometimes it is just the lebel although i agree not always..
I said i would like to use it.. i did not say i will use it.. sometimes a person has to comprimise in quality so to get cheaper hardware. this is not a crime..everybody should have the choise to do that. not everybody need a super hollywood camera to use in a car. good Quality/good price=good choise... not good quality=good choise neither good price=good choise

so wait a second, you're asking me what the differences are, I tell you what the differences are, then you tell me I'm wrong?

I understand compromising, everyone has to do it.

saying you would like to use it in the manner you said it, leads people to believe you want to use it....

I do find it funny however that you're upset at me for telling you that it's obviously not a quality camera, when I'm not the only one saying it...lol
