It's about damn time! I was looking for places to buy it when I saw this thread. What a coincidence! I did manage to find a place where you can buy the motheboard alone (533 MHz version). Check it out here.

They also have what looks to be the 800 MHz version here.

I think I'm still going to wait until the prices go down a little more.

It also look like the first barbones system on the page you linked to can accept DC input. That might be perfect.

      Let me get this straight...

      It has:

      - Internal DC-DC power board built-in(!)
      - built in audio
      - built in Ethernet (LAN)
      - built in S-Video or Composite video output
      - Four USB ports
      - 1 pci slot
      - etc...

      For around $200 ????

      What's the catch?

      This seems perfect!

This is such a sweet mobo.
Built in dc-dc with 12V input. What more can you ask for?

The chip is soldered to the motherboard, and much slower than it's intel or amd competition :/

C3 800 mhz is about as fast as a 500 mhz celeron.

Also keep in mind it wants regulated 12V input. Don't just hook it up to your car's electrical system.

So, how would this hook up to the car's power?

Well I looked around and do you think that it would allow for a 15 volt input? There are laptop converters that can pump out about 4.6A at 15V....

                Otherwise the largest I've seen a 9-18V convert to 12V is 2.1A.

Have a look at this site.
It appears to be the same, or a very similar PC case.
Built in DC power, Mini-ITX specs.

Its just begging for a cleaned up car supply to be plugged in.

Can this be plugged directly into the car's power or does it still need work to be able to do this?

I'm thinking that it could be connected to a suitable phono/jack that is wired the same as the original external laptop type PSU with an inline fuse.

but I would certainly think about some kind of voltage regulation/ power cleaning circuit if you know you battery/alternator voltage dips and rises a lot on and off load.

Yes, the eden esp 5000 that i have (test model but should be identical to a bought one!) supports STR, and otherwise is very quick to boot up anyway (mine boots in under 20 seconds). However, I would recommend you go for the c3 800 model as my eden 5000 doesn't play dvds properly, without skipping all over the place.

I'm working hard on finding that case I posted about earlier, but it does't look like I can find it yet.

BTW ebuyer has the 800mhz C3 in their inventory. 2 left last ime I looked.

Yeah - I may get one from e-buyer. If you find out where to get that psu or case from, lemme know!
