    Hi i have a MiTAC gps unit (based on SiRFStar chipset) i think my firmware needs to be updated, because my comp is set to todays date and the gps info says its september something 1997. however the time is correct, any one have the firmware? this unit was also sold under the name "PORT Metro Guide". thanks

    I had one of those....your best bet is to chuck it out the window.

        Check inside for a dead battery. My GPS (not the same as yours) has a lithium cmos-type battery inside to retain the time and position when the power is off.

          hmmm sounds probable, but the thing looses satellites when trees are on the side of the road (unit is on my roof) also takes at least 10-20 minutes to get a fix.
