    Hey, I have a micro sized board which has no connection for the ATX 20 pin connector but the manufacturer states that it can be used with ATX.

    Connections on the board are a standard four pin Molex and an "external ATX control pin" There is a picture here if it helps


    The three pins for the connector (white 3 pin connector to the right of the purple circular thing) are labeled ground, power on and always 5V. The instructions from the manual state

    This CPU board can support an advanced soft power switch function if an ATX power supply is used. To enable the soft power switch function:
    1. Take the specially designed ATX-to-PS/2 power cable out of NC-674ís
    accessory bag.
    2. Connect the 3-pin plug of the cable to EXTATX (ATX feature connector).
    3. Connect the power on/off button to PW/ON. (A momentary type of
    button should be used).

    I guess the ATX to PS/2 cable is not actually what it means, as it just has a 3 pin connector which connects to the board and has a 3 pin female plug on the end.

    I've tried connecting the cable to - ground pin to black from PSU, always 5V to Red from PSU but am confused where the power on should connect to. Baring in mind I am using the PSU on a desk, so the green wire is shorted on a ground to give it power.

    I manage to get the system to POST, but every time it tries to boot into windows it resets and I get the "start in safe mode" option on the next boot up with the reason being "power faliure" so I'm a bit stumped really.

    Other specs that may help someone help me are...

    Not running a power switch as it isnt' required as the board is getting power
    Screen - LinITX - external power from its power supply
    512mb RAM
    Hitachi travelstar 2.5" drive
    200W PSU - known working correctly

    Any help would be great

    Based on the information in the manual, the ATX to PS/2 is some sort of converter that you plug in to the MALE end of the ATX PSU and plug into the PS/2 (mouse/keyboard port) of the motherboard.

      If you can believe the manual seems 2-23 p2 is the normal power button

      in which case nothing ever connects to pin 14 of the atx supply
      so how can the board control the psu?
      you do have 2-23 p3 to atx p9?

        I now have it booting in AT mode... Should have installed windows AFTER puttin the HDD on the board - textbook error :S

            SentraVIP: Bought it from a guy in UK on digital-car.co.uk Was looking for something real small, as its going in an old VW beetle, but powerful enough to run GPS, music and OBD-II for my new engine. It cost me £60, but the RRP is well over £200.

            512mb RAM and a 1Ghz processor boots to a full version of XP Pro in just under 20 seconds from a 5400RPM hdd.


            Still on the hunt for info to get it working in ATX mode if anyone has any brainwaves or ideas
