  • mini-TX that does and does not support 800x480

MII12000 does not support WVGA like 800x480 and is not supported by PowerStrip either. It has a S3 graphics chip.

Please add mobo's you are familiar with. (Preferably boards that _does_ support 800x480...)

There are so many hreads about this.
There really isn't a need for a new one...
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
      How about the Wiki?

True. But still impossible to find one single board that support 800x480 on any of those threads. But I'd really love it if you proved me wrong there, Darque.

This thread could be made unique in that sense that only boards that do not support 800x480 or powerstrip qualify :-)

That at least narrows down the list of possible candidate mobo's.

My Shuttle FN41 motherboard does (only abailable with the Shuttle SN41G2). It's an AthlonXP board with nForce2-MCP chipset.
Granted, it is not miniITX formfactor. There are miniITX boards by Intel that use a PentiumM or Pentium4 that will support 800x480 because of the different graphics controller (all Intel chipsets, IIRC). Be prepared for some sticker shock, though.

It all has to do with the video chipset. Via's EPIA boards uses the ****ty S3 Unichrome graphics chipset, which does not support alternate resolutions. Some have used hacked BIOS to achieve this. I cannot attest to how well they work, as I've never used an EPIA board.

            Thanks Darque!

My plan was to make a reply on this thread when I actually ordered a new mobo (with box). I found that it still took some time to investigate what to buy (and I've already bought myself something for X-mas) so I deesided to postpone this and stick with my ****ty C3 and modified VoomPC for a little while longer. ("****ty" is the word indeed! :-) )

But thanks to you Darque I now feel I have a proper start-point of selecting new mobo when I deside to do so.

Why is it so hard to buy the right stuff the first time with Carputers !!! (The StreetDeck aproach with aproved hw is really good)

It's not difficult. It just requires doing lots of research.
We're working on making that research easier with thie wiki, but it takes time. It's coming along, though.
Right now, the information is there, but it's just difficult to naviage at times. You have to dig through large amounts of bull**** to find the golden nuggets of information.
