Has anyone been following up on the FreeDiag sf.net project?

Fot those interested, I have an OBDII => Serial converter that I snagged for ~$75.00... I have confirmed that it definately works in a Pontiac Grand Am, as well as a Late Model Volvo...

Any thoughts on this? I will post more info if folks are interested.

I'm actually working on a cheap carputer solely for vehicle diagnostic monitoring stuff (laptops tend to go flying when you launch at the track). However, I'm doing ODBI... I was able to solder up one of these free-air, and fit it right into the DB9 shell...

Bought mine for pretty cheap. If you have a Serial port in your install puter, you should be OK. I am attempting to get this workin via a USB => Serial converter as well.... The interface works pretty well in my car on a separate laptop. (1999 Grand Am SE -3400 engine-)

Well, it works on a Volvo... That is the only foreign car I have also tested thus far. You can send a quick E-Mail to the person who makes these. They seem pretty good at responding. Also, the quality of the device is excellent. It is not some home job, they actually went as far as having custom PCBs made. The board is excellent craftsmanship, IMHO!

Dealing with OBDI is a different story, it is (I believe) a different connector altogether. Good Luck!
