I would say yes...but just flip it and see if it works.

It grabs the CD on entry...unlike a tray load that doesn't grab the CD until the tray closes.

I used mine sideways for years.

I tried my imac drive upside down. Although it not the same drive, this is my experience.

It made a lot of strange noises. It took the disk in, but it did not spin up. I had to turn the drive back up the other way to get the disk out.

My suggestion to you is if you are going to try this, use a disk that you don't want, just incase it damages the cd like it did to mine.

As dodge cummins said, it may work fine sideways.

It might be written in the specifications. Did you check them?

lol. I was afraid of that.

the slot on the drive is towards the top and I have this space behind the dash thats perfect for it only if the slot on the drive (when placed in that space behind the dash) was towards the bottom.

basically if I cut a slot in the front aligned with the drive placed right side up, the slit (cut on the dash face) will not be vertically symmetrical (exactly in the middle) and would also require a lot more cutting to fit. thats all.

              I hope that made sense.

im just going to put in the effort and get it right. whatever. it was a dumb question to begin with.

thanks for the input guys. appreciate it.

the reason why I tried was that it was the only way my drive was going to fit under my screen in my old car. I changed my mind on that idea buy buying a new car
