  • HOw to hook up an input to the FB

    OK so I can't quite figure out how to physically hook up an input to the FB. I'm trying to hook up my steering wheeel controls and I have them all ready to hook up (used a voltage divider and one wire outputs signals below 5v).

    I can't find a diagram that shows the FB and where each wire goes. Do I need to hook up to the red wire poles? How do I do this?

        I'm still not sure on how to hook up the wire. Does it run across all three of the analog input prongs or does it just need to touch one of them?

          Since you have your own power and ground already, you only need to use 1 wire. The 1 wire from your steering wheel controls onto the Input Pin of an analogue input. The +5v and GND on the Fusion Brain are meant to power sensors and such.

          Also since you are doing steering wheel controls, you are probably the first guinae pig I have for the new dTime feature in MDX added 5 days ago. This way you can set how rapidly the buttons fire the software and the new imporved key sender as of last night too. Let us know how you do.

              i'm having a problem getting my computer to recognize the FB. Everytime I plug in the FB the install new hardware wizard comes up. If I try to install it automatically it says windows can't do it. I try to install from a specific location but I can't find the right place. The files in the driver folder dont show up when I try linking to them. Anyone know what Im doing wrong. I'm running XP

                    I think I'm starting to understand how to hook up the wire. It looks like with the analog input, each of the 10 inputs has 3 prongs. Do I need to hook up anything to the 5v dc pins and the ground pins or do I just hook the wire up to the last pin, the input pin?

                      Put that under main root so it is in the same level as "<require>", "<graphics>", "<io>" and "<logic>" the FusionConfiguration.xml

                      Change "mainbrain" to the ID that you are using on your fusion brain isntance.


                      This will bring up the debug window that shows all inputs, all outputs and everything. Then you can see if the wire is in correctly. Also make sure that your analogue input has autoaveraging turned off for steering wheel controls.


                      And as I said in my earlier post, no you dont need all 3 wires since you are not using a sensor that needs power

                        I've tried putting in the code but nothing happens. I even edited the xml file, added the text and saved it. But, when I open fusion configuration program the text does not show up.

                        Also I'm trying to create key presses using the FB software but I'm a little confused. I've been looking at this for a guide but I'm not quite sure if I'm doing it right.

                        I've created the brain instance and an analogue input instance. But, I'm not sure if I have set it to read from the right pin/input #. I believe the one I am using is #8 but I might be wrong This is how I have it connected

                        0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
                        0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
                        0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 X

                        I am connected to the X input last one on the end of the board. The input is labeled 8 on the board but I'm not sure if it has a specific pin #.

                              ok, all that is good.

                              But that xml part I gave you is not able to be read in by the configurator. It is debug only code.

                              So after you put it in the xml file, open the main program, and the debug will popup.
