  • Fluid Level Sensor hookup

I bought this nice fluid level sensor that is powered by 12vdc and outputs 0 to 5 vdc. 0 being empty, 5 being full. So my issue is, I have 2 leads(+,-) from the 0 to 5 vdc source and 3 leads(+,-,an) on the analog input of the FB. To connect a voltage source to the analog input, which leads are used and how?

Then AIN is the analogue input. That is what does the reading.
    Ground is ground.

so your sensors + output goes to AIN. Your sensors ground output goes to -

I'm also interested to know how this worked out.

Guess this didn't work out. Any other ideas on fluid level sensors . . . that I could adapt to a rain barrel.

My brain has been running the greenhouse for a year. ta da! Including hydroponics. But, I need to manage water levels.

im sure it did, i dont see why it wouldnt. Probably just not a follow-up type person

Yes, the sensor worked perfect. I will not however work on a metal tank.

ROD Type works in metal tanks

The Rod Type sensor is same capacitive sensor contained/sealed in PVC rod.. same outputs. This sensor works in metal tanks as it is away from walls.

Order custom length from website and screw in top (or in side if use bent)

Works with most liquids (Capacitive)... if question just email them they are good on that.

                  ___

If you need a smaller diameter sensor - make it yourself - plenty of websites. Or better you can make your own contact capacitor ladder sensor and put out a pulse train for easy uP input. But if you can use their sensors, especially given packaging/sealing etc is just so much easier at their pricing (always a trade off)

                  __

And just in case - I AM NOT Affiliated with them... just been needing a waste level sensor and most commercial are outrageous - so worked on my own but given theirs and price/configuration - purchasing theirs. Using a pic micro to take analog and send as digital data stream (LIN or CAN). uP will also serve as default controller for waste level management based on power availability.
